It is almost three weeks since the earth...12 March. It is almost three weeks since the earthquake in Chch (the abbreviation for Christchurch) and another earthquake has now hit Japan. I have contacted friends from that country, and I thank everyone who has been thinking of people here... Just the other day, a friend I met during earthquake relief work in Gujarat, India in 2001 was in contact... Just this morning, word from an Oxfam colleague with whom I visited Aceh, the epicentre of the 2005 tsunami... And almost every day, I hear from someone who has been working on longterm efforts after the Sichuan earthquake of 2008. I do not mention all of these crises lightly. Each one has been major, life-changing. But I think of all the good work that Oxfam does, of all the goodness that comes from survivors helping each other... And I remember that the Chinese word for 'crisis' combines 'danger' and 'opportunity'. I offer my wishes for good life changes.Madeleine Marie Slavickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01801929694750498013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-635975201238876737.post-30567869491385605692011-02-24T14:18:10.337+13:002011-02-24T14:18:10.337+13:00thanks, elbethanks, elbeMadeleine Marie Slavickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01801929694750498013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-635975201238876737.post-26387939870080039142011-02-24T01:13:22.926+13:002011-02-24T01:13:22.926+13:00Great to learn you're fine.
